New Haven Reads, Tutors Needed

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

Volunteers are needed!  New Haven Reads – which was discussed in a December 2011 post to this blog — is in great need of tutors for its after-school tutoring program for school-age children, both for substitute and more long-term volunteer positions:

“New Haven Reads provides all the training that is needed for our successful one-on-one program. No experience is necessary.  We are looking for people who have one hour a week that they can give to a child to share the joy and power of reading.  Please contact Keri Humphreys at keri@newhavenreads.org or 203-752-1923.”

Cara Baruzzi, Board Secretary

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

A December 2011 post noted that Cara Baruzzi – previously business editor at the New Haven Register –  had been named breaking news editor, as part of a “Digital First” reorganization.  Earlier last year, June 8 and May 20 blog posts recorded that she had joined the board of the Literacy Coalition and had launched its new Twitter presence, at http://twitter.com/LiteracyGNH

Now, Cara Baruzzi has become Secretary of the Coalition’s board.  She serves in a similar capacity for the Connecticut Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
