Literacy Volunteers, Changing a Thousand Lives

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven has documented a 25% percent increase in the number of adults — now over 1000 at 39 sites working with some 200 tutors — benefiting from its services during the past fiscal year.  These adult students are from 66 different countries!

The organization has also published Hear Our Voices: Essays and Reflections from Literacy Volunteer Students.  Together, these voices offer powerful testimony to how these adult learners and their families are changed for the better — both by their own efforts and by the assistance of literacy volunteers.
